The Teachers Workshop: Introduction to Speech and Language Development, is a 2h individual or group workshop designed for teachers working in an Early Years setting (e.g: pre-school, kindergarten and Year 1).

The aims of the workshop are:

  • To learn the typical communication milestones of children aged 0-5
  • To learn the difference between ‘speech’ and ‘language’
  • To identify the signs of speech and language delays
  • To learn strategies to support children who have speech and language delays
  • To learn when to refer a child to a speech therapist and what to expect from speech therapy

 

The Teachers Workshop: Enhancing Core Reading Instruction in the Classroom (K-2) is a 2h individual or group workshop designed for teachers working in a kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 setting.

The aims of the workshop are:

  • Understanding the 5 levels of Phonological Awareness
  • Understand that learning to read, for most people, requires explicit instruction
  • Understand the reciprocal relationships among phonemic awareness, decoding, word recognition, spelling, and vocabulary knowledge
  • Understand/apply in practice the general principles and practices of structured language and literacy teaching, including explicit, systematic, cumulative, teacher-directed instruction
  • Discussing frequency and intensity of reading practice

Programs

Catch-Up Readers is a program designed for struggling readers aged 7+, including dyslexic students.

Evidenced-based techniques and systematic approaches are used to help your child acquire and master the phonological awareness skills needed to become a successful reader.

The program is tailored to each individual student’s abilities and comprise of 3 levels: beginners, intermediate and advanced. Sessions are offered in-person or via Zoom for your convenience. Weekly homeplans are also provided for parents to carry out at home.

Duration of program varies according to the students’ abilities.
Beginners level typically takes 10-20 sessions to complete,
Intermediate level
typically takes 30-40 sessions to complete, and
Advanced level typically takes 20-30 sessions to complete.

 

The School Holidays Speech Camp is suitable for students who experience speech impediments including articulation and phonological disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and stuttering.

The School Holidays Speech Camp was established for busy families who do not have time to commit to weekly therapy sessions during the school period. It aims at accelerating your child’s progress by providing daily 1h sessions or 3x 2h sessions in a week for the duration of the school holidays. 

Sessions will be carried out through outdoor play and activities. Students will be allocated to a group (max 3) according to their age and speech impediment. Each student will have a personalized Speech Intervention Program. Students will also be taught other soft skills such as making friends, working collaboratively as part of a team, following and giving verbal instructions through play, and developing their narrative skills through story-telling.
